Gregorio Urquía Osorio holds a BA in Geography and works for Tragsatec, a leading company in the environmental engineering and consulting industry, since 2002. He is a Geographic Information Systems technician and carries out his professional activity in several countries of the European Union as a representative of his company in the Habitats consortium for the adoption of the European directive on infrastructure for spatial data in Europe (INSPIRE).

He previously provided consulting services and solutions for environmental projects, as well as for the automation of thematic cartography and data analysis and layers, in projects such as the guide featuring Spanish natural trails, the national map of crops and resources, the 3rd national forest inventory, etc. He is currently working on the 4th national forest inventory.

In his ongoing quest for personal and professional excellence he earned the Master’s degree in International Trade Management of the prestigious business school ESIC. His profile acquired thus a new dimension.

Among his latest international projects one can recount an internship at New Orleans University, where he developed learning cases related to geographic information systems for students’ knowledge validation and the Twining NPIS in Croatia, which is an information system aimed at environmental protection thanks to the automation and portability of inspection procedures.

In addition, he is passionate about naval history and has published several articles on this topic. He also leads the citizens’ initiative to pay homage to the Spanish admiral Blas de Lezo by naming a street in Madrid after him.
